JOB TITLE: College & Career Readiness Instructor
COMPENSATION: $20.00/hour
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Part-Time, 9 hrs/ week
SHIFT: Monday & Thursday, 6:00PM-8:30PM plus 4 hours of planning time per week
SUPERVISOR: Sr. Director of Adult Education
LOCATION: Remote & Pottstown, PA
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
YWCA Tri-County Area, located in Pottstown PA, is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated instructor for ESL Transition – College and Career Readiness class. The instructor is responsible to teach high school level academic reading and writing skills to English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) students who have completed ESL classes and are learning to read/write and speak English at more advanced levels. The course is designed to address the academic reading, writing skills and speaking skills that will prepare/support ESL students to transition to the High School Diploma class, post-secondary education, and/or employment or career opportunities.
The candidate must be able to teach in remote and virtual settings. A strong command of technology is necessary for this position (Web-based platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft office suite).
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (Includes, But Not Limited to):
- Teach high school level academic reading and writing skills to English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) students, focusing on developing language skills in listening, speaking, writing, and reading.
- Assist students in building their digital literacy alongside language learning.
- Design and implement supplemental activities to reinforce key concepts and support student progress.
- Use interactive teaching methods to engage students in conversations, hands-on activities, and practice, avoiding lecture-style instruction.
- Facilitate communication activities that help students apply language skills in the workplace and within the community.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student attendance, services provided, and progress.
- Adhere to all guidelines set by YWCA, PA Dept of Education, and the web-based program developer.
- Collaborate closely with team members in Pottstown and Norristown.
- Participate in professional development training as required by the agency and state.
- Attend monthly and quarterly program meetings.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.

- Able to accept guidance and feedback and support teamwork and efforts.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree required (BA or BS minimum).
- Experience working with adults in education or related fields preferred.
- Speaking and understanding Spanish is a plus.
